Jojo Rabbit
In Nazi-era Germany, a boy confronts fascist nationalism with the aid of his imaginary friend Hitler. From director Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok) and co-starring Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell, this poignant comedy won the Audience Award at the Toronto International Film Festival. Rated PG-13.

Pain and Glory
Antonio Banderas won the Best Actor prize at this summer’s Cannes Film Festival for his turn as an aging filmmaker who takes stock of his life and work. The semi-autobiographical film is from Spanish auteur Pedro Almodóvar. Rated R.

The Report
Adam Driver stars in this true story account of a congressional staffer who leads an investigation of the government’s torture practices and their cover-up by the Bush and Obama administrations. Annette Bening co-stars as Senator Dianne Feinstein. Rated PG-13.
